Dior Announces Acquisition of Ateliers Vermont Embroidery Workshops
The French fashion house, Christian Dior, announced today the acquisition of Ateliers Vermont, an embroidery firm founded in 1954 by Jean Guy Vermont and had been purchased in 1995 by Leonard Cione.
The signature gala recalled in a statement that Cione managed to continue the tradition represented by the Vermont workshops through their knowledge of textile design and “endless search for beauty”. Dior in a statement said that he is committed to ensuring the continuity of traditional manufactures in the world of fashion through a work defined by the “seduction” and “refinement” of its products.
The text announcing the acquisition ends with a quote from the designer who gave the house its name, Christian Dior: “the human hand in order to give art its unique individuality.”
