Guerra Launches HIV-Awareness Campaign
Project Runway season 8 runner-up, Mondo Guerra, is out to help people do more than just dress well. The designer has teamed up with Merck to create I Design, an HIV awareness campaign that encourages open communication between patients and their doctors.
“It’s always difficult to do, and all people living with HIV are different,” says Guerra, who announced his HIV-positive status during his time on the show.
“The campaign focuses on empowering people with HIV to take a tailored approach to their treatment.” I Design’s website launched on Tuesday, and Guerra will trek across the country promoting the cause over the next few months.
His designs will also be popping up across the country by way of Neiman Marcus this fall. Guerra says the clothes might be a bit
more subdued than fans are expecting. “My thing is usually prints on prints. But for this collection I pulled back just a little bit, on my own doing, and refined my designs. It’s a little more minimal than what I’m known for,” he notes.
